Fla. Sr. Azalea: LaCrosse, Tumlin share lead
PALATKA, Fla. (March 8, 2014) -- Doug Lacrosse and Ronnie Tumlin share the 2nd-round lead at the 2014 Florida Azalea Senior at Palatka Golf Club.
Lacrosse followed his first-round 70 up with a 69 while Tumlin, who shot 71 in Friday's first round, carded a Saturday 68.
The duo are three shots better than the field and former champion David Anthony of Jacksonville. He shot 72-70 to enter the final round at 142.
Doug Snoap and Tom Sykes are six back of the leaders.
In the Super Senior flight, Ted Smith leads by one shot over Bob Howe.
Smith (71-72) withstood a pair of great second rounds from Howe (73-71) and Jim Kamis (75-69).
The Florida Azalea Senior is one of the earliest national invitationals and draws a top field of seniors and super seniors from Florida and beyond. The event is played at Palatka Golf Club, which was designed by Donald Ross in 1925 and borders the beautiful Ravine State Gardens.
The course is only 6,000 yards long from the tips, but he small Ross greens and well-placed bunkers provide a test. The greens are firm and fast for the tournament.

54 hole stroke play championship with Senior (ages
55+), Super Senior (ages 64-69), Legends (ages 70-
74) and Super Legends (ages 75+) divisions. Players
will be grouped into six flights by handicap. After 36
holes the Championship flight will
be cut to top 70 players and ties.
