PACIFIC GROVE, California (March 2, 2014) -- Backing up the kind of first round that Jerry Ledzinski and Jeff Britton of Carmel posted on Saturday (a 9- under 61) can be tough, just ask Amateurgolf.com founder Pete Wlodkowski and George Kelley of Stevinson Ranch, whose putters went cold Sunday after shooting a 63 on Saturday.

Not a problem for Ledzinski and Britton, two long time friends and golf partners who play out of Tehama and complement each other perfectly. Ledzinski hits it long, and his rounds typically include flashes of brilliance like runs of birdies, eagles on par-5s, that kind of thing. Britton, who recently won the Amateurgolf.com Tour Championship senior division (his first-ever senior event) is steady and easy going enough to pick up his partner when needed, while taking his own birdies when they come.

Paired with brothers Austin and Andrew Roberts today -- who both players were very impressed with -- Ledzinski made a point on the par-5 6th hole by flying a 130 yard shot in from the fairway for eagle, then followed it up by hitting the cup on the fly on the tough 8th hole (and get this he hit wedge) but this time his ball bounced 20 feet backwards.

"I hit the hole on the fly twice," Ledzinski joked. "I made half of them."

At the end of the day it was a 8-under 62 for a 17-under tournament total of 123 and a 5- stroke victory over the Roberts brothers, of Carmichael, who fired a solid 66 to secure second place. In solo third was the team of Warren Leary of Valencia and Mike Montgomery of Roseville who posted 64-66=130.

In the Net Division, Charles Balisha of Turlock and Brandon Murphy of Escalon followed their first round 62 with a 66 to shoot 128, not knowing how close their margin of victory was. A single shot back were fellow "Turlock boys" Marc Sanders and Tom Silva who posted a solid 64 on Sunday to move into second place at 129, just one back.

Terry Foreman (Antioch) and Mark Hill (Patterson) posted a solid 66 in the tougher Sunday conditions to overtake first round leaders Wlodkowski and Kelley (T2 with Ken Noonan of Pacific Grove and Rob Adolph of Fresno at 132) and take the title. Foreman is a veteran of the European Tour who has played in all types of conditions and swears by amateurgolf.com's official rain gear - ProQuip.
