ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 22, 2014) -- The buzz surrounding Callaway Golf at the 2013 PGA Show was that the brand was “back”.

This year, it’s evident that Callaway is simply here -- and here in a big way.

With perhaps the PGA Show’s most involved setup, Callaway put forth a terrific showing Wednesday as the 2014 show floor opened.

The brand, based out of Carlsbad, Calif., continued its promotion of three key product lines that recently were revealed -- and made quite the bang with a military tank brought in to promote Odyssey’s Tank putters.

This year marks the triumphant return of the Big Bertha driver, which arrives with much anticipation and a long history of success. A common sight in bags in the 1990s and early 2000s, the Big Bertha is back with two drivers -- the Big Bertha and Big Bertha Alpha.

The Big Bertha and the pro version, the Big Bertha Alpha, are completely geared towards customization and ideal launch conditions. Improved COG helps promote increased distances while the adjustable weights help with accuracy.

PGA Show-goers also were exposed to the new X2 Hot family. With a full line of drivers, fairway woods, hybrids and irons for men and women, the X2 Hot and X2 Hot lines feature key technologies and advancements, including a deep central undercut for increased ball speeds, a stabilizing arch for additional feel and sound and perimeter weighting for increased forgiveness.

Overall, the line will undoubtedly be one of the year’s most successful.

Of course, Callaway also had on showcase its Apex Irons, which take their name from the old Hogan irons and provide golfers with the ideal blend of distance and playability.

The showcase, which also included Callaway Golf bags, footwear, hats and accessories, was undoubtedly one of the best I saw on Day 1 of the 2014 PGA Show and we’re excited to see what else the brand has in store for the year.

We’ll continue our manufacturers showcase from the PGA Show Thursday with a look at Ping. If you missed our look at Titleist at the Demo Day Tuesday, read it here.
