EUROPEAN TOUR: DP World Tour Championship Dubai Titleist Pro V1x golf ball loyalist Henrik Stenson completed a "dream season" by claiming a historic double - the first player to win The Race to Dubai on the European Tour and the FedEx Cup on the U.S. PGA TOUR in the same season – following a six shot victory at the DP World Tour Championship Dubai. Stenson fired a closing 64 that included six birdies and a tap-in eagle on the final hole en route to a tournament-record 25-under par, 263 victory total.
Stenson was followed on the leaderboard by Ian Poulter (Pro V1x/2nd), last week’s winner Victor Dubuisson (Pro V1x/3rd) and Joost Luiten (Pro V1/4th), as each of the top four finishers relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success. Luke Donald (Pro V1x) and Lee Westwood (Pro V1x) were among three players tied for fifth.
The win was the first European Tour title of the year for Stenson after capturing two of the closing four FedExCup Playoffs events on the U.S. PGA TOUR.
AUSTRALASIAN TOUR: Talisker Masters Titleist Brand Ambassador Adam Scott successfully defended his Australian Talisker Masters title for his second victory in two weeks, after posting a two-shot victory at wind-swept Royal Melbourne. Coming off the heels of his Australian PGA title last week, Scott rode a wave of confidence to help him secure another gold jacket.
“I’ve never won back-to-back weeks so this is a first and something that I like. I think it’s very hard to win two tournaments full stop, let alone back to back, so I’m quite pleased with myself this week," said Scott.
Up next for Adam – a spot on Team Australia at the ISPS HANDA World Cup of Golf next week, again at Royal Melbourne. After that, he’ll have his sights set on the Australian Triple Crown as he looks to cap off an already remarkable season at the Australian Open in two weeks.
