It's known that 59 is the magic number for
golfers.
The magical 59 is sought after by the most
elite of players and it's front-page news
whenever a sub-60 card is signed.
That's why the feat accomplished by former
Eastern Kentucky golfer Jesse Massie is even
more impressive.
Massie, playing the 6,540-yard, par-72
Glenmary Country Club in Louisville, shot a
ridiculous 56 --- yes, you read that right, a
56!
Massie, who has been trying to make it in
professional circuits, accumulated 14 birdies,
three pars and an eagle in his potentially-
record breaking round.
Massie
told the
Louisville Courier-Journal:
“Coming up 18 I said, ‘Nobody is going to
believe this,’” Massie said. “I can’t even
believe it.”
