Homan claims Greenwood Invitational
GREENWOOD, MS (July 14, 2013) — Clay Homan, head men's golf coach at Mississippi State University and former State golfer, won the Greenwood Invitational by five shots on Sunday.
Homan fired a two-under par 70 on Sunday to close out the tournament at 13-under par after opening the event with 67 and 66 on Friday and Saturday.
Homan, who played Bulldog golf from 1991 to 1995, just finished his 10th season as head men's coach.
Finishing in solo second place was one of Homan's own players at Mississippi State, senior Joe Sakulpolphaisan.
Sakulpolphaisan shared the opening round lead at 67 with his coach, shooting 69-72 to close and take second place.
ABOUT THE Greenwood Invitational
Eligibility: Open to Male Amateurs who have
reached their 18th birthday on or before the
first day of the tournament or who have
graduated high school.
Format: Field size is limited to first 160 paid
players. The tournament is scheduled for 54
holes of stroke play. The field will be flighted
after 36 holes of play.
