BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (June 23, 2013) — At 17-years of age, Tyler Hitchner of Tuscaloosa, Ala. has won the Greystone Invitational. He used a final-round 72 to work his way into a playoff with University of South Carolina junior Caleb Sturgeon before making par on the first extra hole to take the title.

Sturgeon entered Sunday one stroke behind Hitchner, getting into the playoff with a one-under par 71.

Hitchner and Sturgeon were the only two players in the field to finish in the red. The Legacy Course at Greystone Country Club, built by Rees Jones in 2000, held up to the test of the field filled with rising juniors and collegians at one of the south's top events of the year.

Scott Strohmeyer and John Tyner finished tied for third at a 72-hole total of one-over par. Strohmeyer, of course, was on the NCAA Championship-winning Alabama Crimson Tide team. Tyner plays at Memphis.

In a tie for fifth place at 2-over was Auburn's Ryan Benton, West Georgia's Cory Evans and Tom Lovelady, a teammate of Strohmeyer's at Alabama.
