SOUTH BEND, Ind. (June 18, 2013) -- It’s not easy to shoot under par two days in a row, but Purdue’s Adam Schenk made South Bend CC look easy during the first two rounds of the 113th Indiana Amateur Championship. Schenk paired yesterday’s 4-under-par 67 with a 2-under-par 69 today for a two day total of 136. "Like yesterday I didn’t do anything particularly special,” Schenk said. "I did make a long birdie putt on 17 which helped, but I followed that with a double on 18 after grounding my second shot.” Schenk had five birdies today coming on the par 3, 4th hole, the par 5, 5th hole, the par 4, 9th hole, the par 5, 12th hole, and the par 3, 17th hole. "I hope to get off to a good start tomorrow and hopefully birdie holes one and two,” Schenk said. "This is a great tournament and it would mean a lot to me to win. A win here would also help me possibly advance to some larger events.” IPFW’s Drew Imel and recent Rollins College graduate, Scott Lamb carded solid rounds again today. After both players fired 2-under-par 69s yesterday, they went on the shoot even par 71s today, solidifying their second place positions heading into day three of competition. "I started off the day struggling a little bit, but I knew if I could keep my score around par then I would be in good shape,” Imel said. "I have been working hard with my new coach, Quinn Griffing, for the past three months and I’m happy with how I’ve played so far. I plan on staying humble the next couple of days and playing to my strengths.” McCormick Clouser, a recent transfer to Ball State University, shot the low round of the tournament today, a 5-under-par 66. After carding 78 yesterday, Clouser’s comeback was enough to put him just eight shots out of the lead. After today’s round the field was cut to the low 60 players including ties at 9-over-par 151.

District Qualifiers for non-exempt players. 18-hole qualifier, 72-hole championship. Players must have an Indiana address and a handicap of no greater than 9.9.
